Reflection: Your first contribution

First approach to the handbook

The documentation and videos of onboarding from my team (photos) was so helpful! It explains every detailthat that is important and relevant to contribute, they explained that they do not allow any faces, or information that can contribute to indentify a person, vehicule or something like this. Pictures cannot be blurry or too dark that is dificult to see what is actually happening in the picture, they must be friendly and respecful.

The video on the wordpress course that explain how to contribute was vey helpful and helped me to understand how to contribute in my team and make sure that the photos were approve.

More information about my contributions…

My first contribution!

I uploded 5 photos, just some of tem were approved because sadly the others were a littler blurry so they did not pass the standars… But I learned from that and then I continued doing contributions that they did accepted. The first photo accepted was a photo of a crab in the beach I will post it at the end of this post!

Process to contribute…

I love to travel, so I took photos of nature and animals that I came across on my trips, I checked that the photos fulfill all of the the standards to uploaded, once I loaded the photo I checked all the checkboxes to send them to the team that approve them and they were accepted!

Communication and how the team works…

The team is really organize and respecful! They approve the photos really quick, then I receive the email if they were approve and not, the photos team has a chat on slack and the communicate and schedule meetings of ask for help to answer question there, they are really fast on their answers and efficient in their responses.

The main learning experiences…

I learned to take better pictures and use the tools I have available like the settings on the camara and the gallery on my phone to take better photos to avoid the pictures being blurry and not passing the standards of wordpress photos. I did not know that a photo could be rejected because it was “blurry” because of the amount of pixels it had and that you could not see it just by looking at the picture, but this course is to learn and this is what I am doing.

Other information: Everything about the process of contribution is clear at the moment and learned from the mistake I did in the first contribution and after that my photos have been accepted and approved, which is great!!

I’ll keep you update it about my process on the wordpress course…
